Pastor Christopher Samonte and his indigent feeding and discipleship ministry of the new Landfill Church.
now called the "Spirit Filled Church"
"Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." -Jesus (John 6:27)
Pastor Christopher and his wife Lorna have seen the children scavenging and on the local landfills near the city of El Salvador in the Philippines looking for food to eat and for things of value to sell in order to eat. Some are abandoned children and some are lead by parents who also are starving and trying to stay alive. This broke his heart and even though he had no money to spend he fed them when he could and has asked AFM to partner with him to send funds to feed these poor people. Due to some godly hearts in our midst, we have started with a sponsor who is sending enough to feed these poor children twice a week. Pastor Christopher wants to do this every single day, but there is no money. He has found some support from his local Church and they are now building a new traditional bamboo church building on site at the Landfill to minister to these people. He wants to bring them the hope of not just physical nourishment, but also the spiritual food of Jesus Christ...the food that will last into eternity for each of them.
This is a beautiful living ministry that is close to the heart of God. We need some people who will love what God loves and show it through pledging monthly support of $15 a month to help us reach a sustained goal of $300 monthly. We have 20 $15 slots to fill to make this goal. Will you help the helpless in this way? In doing so you will be sharing the gospel through helping Pastor Christopher raise these people up in the teachings of Jesus our Lord. Help us help these people eat every day of the week! God bless you for praying over this and seeking the Lord's will for you.
*Special note* Jan 7th, 2013 - We now also have a current need to raise an additional $400 to buy sheet metal and boards to install a steel roof on this Church building that faces typhoons and constant blowing off of the roof.
It costs about $45 a day to feed all these people and many more.
